Mojo and the Growth Mindset

A secret about the brain.

Why does Mojo want to leave school? Can you sometimes relate to how Mojo is feeling?
Mojo wants to leave school because he doesn’t think he is smart enough for school. Then he thinks that the best way is to quit school. Sometimes I can partly relate to what he is saying.

What does Katie say to Mojo to convince him not to leave?
Katie told Mojo that he just can’t give up and that everyone can be smart if you just work at it. You need to work to be smarter. Katie said that the brain is as a muscle and when you challenge yourself by for example math problems you make your brain smarter and stronger. You just need to keep trying things.

Do you think Mojo can become smarter? Why or why not?
Of course he can become smarter . Everyone can be smarter if they just try and focus. It’s like a professional football player. They wasn’t professional from the beginning. They tried and tried, and worked really hard to be professional.

What subject do you feel frustrated by sometimes? Can you see yourself becoming smarter in that subject? How?
I feel frustrated in the subject named social science. It’s not my favourite subject but I can see that I’ve developed since the 7th grade. Even if I feel that subject very uninteresting I tried and did my best. So I can see that I’ve developed a lot when it comes to writing long texts. How I developed was because I asked my friends for some feedback and just tried.

What does the quote from the video, "mistakes can make you smarter" mean to you?
That you need to do mistakes before you learn something. You learn from your mistakes and that makes you smarter. On the way to become smarter you need to make some mistakes.

How can we learn from our mistakes? Talk about a specific, recent example.
If you were building a robot and kept "failing,” what would you do?

Of course we can. I would still try to build it till I would make it.
