Thanksgiving

In September 1620 around 100 people left Plymouth. They sailed across the Atlantic and landed in Plymouth. After a few weeks of storm and wind they were on dry land again. They wanted to start a new life in a new country. Far away from England. For example one person had packed 126 pairs of shoes and one had packed a drum. In the cold winter alot of people became sick and died, in 1672. Only 54 Pilgrims were still alive.

But later the Pilgrims met some Indians called the Wampanoeg. They made friends and their friends learned them how to grow crops and how to catch wild birds. The Pilgrims had their first Thanksgiving party together with the Indians. They ate food that they grown. They didn't die of hunger after that. And now they had a home and they had survived!
